The concept first formed, based on a an industry-led disability network comprising of organisations in the West Australian hospitality and tourism sector.
We recognised the importance of sustainable employment and its connection to social inclusion. A collaborative strategy was formed which respects, values and empowers people with a disability.
We became an incorporated Association, governed by a board of industry professionals.
The Hospitality Disability Network pilot program was officially launched by Western Australian Deputy Premier and Minister for Mental Health, the Honourable Roger Cook MLA.

HDNWA Awarded Department of Social Services grant as part of the Information linkages and Capacity Building Program, ‘Building Employer Confidence’
- To build the confidence and ability of employers to hire, support and retain, employees with a disability; and
- Help create inclusive workplaces by breaking down attitudinal barriers about people with a disability.
Celebrated our 150th candidate placement within our member network.
Creation and launch of E-Learning Modules to members to continue their awareness and confidence in working with a person with a disability.
HDNWA awarded Department of Social Services grant for the WA portion of the national Tourism Local Navigator Pilot program to enhance ability and confidence in small to medium tourism business (SME’s) to hire persons with a disability. Create an employer guide ‘toolkit’ for this purpose.
Successfully completed Lotterywest grant accomplishing all objectives, including employee placements, new members and e-learning module utilisation.
