The concept first formed, based on a an industry-led disability network comprising of organisations in the West Australian hospitality and tourism sector.
2016We recognised the importance of sustainable employment and its connection to social inclusion. A collaborative strategy was formed which respects, values and empowers people with a disability.
2017We became an incorporated Association, governed by a board of industry professionals.

HDNWA has appointed a Disability Employment Manager to drive the organisation forward in achieving its vision
May,2021The goals of this industry approach to disability employment are:
- To establish a collective voice to raise awareness and lobbying in relation to disability employment;
- To promote the hospitality industry as a pathway to employment for people with disability;
- To reduce the gap in disability employment in the community.
- To encourage the sharing of knowledge, resources and infrastructure for hospitality businesses;
