The Story So Far

The concept first formed, based on a  an industry-led disability network comprising of organisations in the West Australian hospitality and tourism sector.

2016

We recognised the importance of sustainable employment and its connection to social inclusion. A collaborative strategy was formed which respects, values and empowers people with a disability.

2017

We became an incorporated Association, governed by a board of industry professionals.

The Hospitality Disability Network pilot program was officially launched by Western Australian Deputy Premier and Minister for Mental Health, the Honourable Roger Cook MLA. 

 

Dec, 2019

HDNWA were awarded a Lotterywest grant to support and progress the vision of achieving sustainable long term employment opportunities for people with a disability

Dec, 2020

HDNWA has appointed a Disability Employment Manager to drive the organisation forward in achieving its vision

May,2021

The goals of this industry approach to disability employment are:

  • To establish a collective voice to raise awareness and lobbying in relation to disability employment;
  • To promote the hospitality industry as a pathway to employment for people with disability;
  • To reduce the gap in disability employment in the community.
  • To encourage the sharing of knowledge, resources and infrastructure for hospitality businesses;
